GMC Sierra 1500 by Model Year: Problems, Recalls and MPG

Counting owner complaints filed in each model year's first three years, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 drew the most (285; most-reported area: engine) and the 2016 the fewest (67).

Every model year since 2016 in one place: EPA fuel economy, NHTSA recalls, owner complaints and crash test ratings. The best fuel economy rating, 26 mpg combined, arrived in 2020. Includes the Sierra 1500 Limited, the previous generation GMC sold alongside the new truck. Excludes the Sierra EV and heavy-duty models.
